Tofalar languageTofalar is a Turkic language most closely related to Tuvan, although mutual intelligibility between them is limited. With its 722 speakers (1989 census), Tofalar is one of the smallest languages of Russia. Tofalars live in Irkutsk oblast in the villages of Alidzher (ca. 300 people), Upper Gutara (ca. 250 people) and Nerkha (ca. 150 people).
