• Got lost? |
Got lost?In case of any trouble during your stay in Moscow, do not hesitate to call us: Visa InformationIf you are not a Russian citizen, you will need an entry visa to come to Russia. There are two kinds of visas you can apply for: a business and a tourist one. The basic difference between them is timing. For a business visa you will need an official letter of invitation issued by the University and sent via regular mail. To process invitations for all the participants we would need a month or more, but in this case it is very likely that you will not apply for a business visa on time. That is why we strongly recommend the participants to apply for a tourist visa. It will be processed in a short time, and will take less effort. For a tourist visa you will need a tourist confirmation and an invitation (voucher) from an authorized travel agency or a hotel where you are going to stay. In general, hotels as well as travel agencies require an additional fee for the processing of the required documents, e.g. Napoleon Hostel sends you an invitation for $29,90 [19,66€], Maxima Slavia Hotel does it for 750 RUR [20,50€]. See the Accommodation section for more details on the hotels we recommend. Please read carefully the requirements of your local Russian consulate for a tourist visa before applying. Russian Consulate in New York, U.S. Also, here is a couple of travel agencies specializing in trips to Russia and particularly on Russian visas. You might want to contact them to make sure they are able to provide you with the required documents.
Russian Visa Online Visa House When applying for a tourist visa do not state 'participation in a conference' as the main purpose of your visit. For the consulate your visit will be just a touristic one. Since no one is forbidden to take part in a conference during one's tourist trip, you will not do anything illegal. Moreover, probably you are planning to walk along Moscow for a while anyway, so basically you will not be lying to the consulate officials about the touristic purpose of your visit. If you have any problems regarding the tourist visa invitation, please feel free to ask us. We will try to help with all we can. AccommodationMany Moscow hotels are either still in the Soviet era (unfriendly staff, poorly furnished rooms, etc.) or are very luxury and incredibly expensive. That is why we have selected several hotels and student hostels which seem good with respect to both the quality and the price, and we would like to recommend them to you. On the following map you will find the recommended hostels (in blue), hotels (in green), and the conference site (in red). The map is scalable; click an item to view additional comments.

On the map above, the conference venue is marked with a red sign. To get to the conference venue, you will need to arrive at Universitet (University) metro station (red line). At the end of the platform, you will see a sign 'Выход в город' (Exit to the city) and an escalator. Take the escalator to get to the surface. Do not take the exit located at the center of the platform.
If you chose the right exit, you will get out at the intersection of Prospekt Vernadskogo and Lomonosovskij prospekt. Cross Lomonosovskij prospect to get to the MSU campus. Walk along Prospect Vernadskogo to the 1st Humanities building (marked 1 on this map). Follow the arrows.
There are two entrances to the 1st Humanities building. Choose either of them, but preferably the one which is closer to Prospect Vernadskogo.
If you chose the wrong exit from the metro station (from the center of the platform), you will see a marketplace. Prospekt Vernadskogo is on your left. You have to cross it to get to another exit from the Universitet metro station.
The conference dinner will take place on Friday, April 18, at 6 p.m. at Bilingua (Krivokolennyj pereulok, 10-5, nearest metro stations: Chistye prudy (red line), Turgenevskaya (brown line)). Bilingua is a café famous among the Moscow linguistic community for its inviting and inspiring atmosphere. Snacks, main courses and drinks at the expense of the Organizing committee will be available.
You will be accompanied to the dinner by the organizers. If you wish to get there on your own, use the map above.
