Summer School

TO THOSE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE & CULTURE!!!

in Russian

Please consider the present as update information about the status and activities of Russian Language & Culture courses of the Philological Faculty of the Moscow State University.

STATUS

The International Russian Language Courses are an integral unit of the Philological Faculty of the Moscow State University named after M. V. Lomonosov working under direct supervision of the Dean of the Faculty, currently, professor Remnyova Marina Leontyevna, Ph.D.

TEACHING and ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

The International Russian Language Courses, being an administrative unit, rely in its activities on the faculty staff and the expertise of three departments specializing in teaching Russian as a Foreign Language, i.e. Department of Russian Language for Foreign Students in Philology, Department of Russian Language for Foreign Students in the Humanities, Department of Russian Language for Foreign Students in the Natural Science. All three Departments are integral educational units of the Philological Faculty, and they have been working in the field since 1947.

TUITION, TERMS, and PROGRAMS

The International Russian Language Courses invite students of any Russian language competency level for: a) short-term programs, traditionally for a period of 4, 6, and 8 weeks; b) semester; c) year. However, an alternate, flexible approach is possible. Students may choose between studying in a group or individually.

The leading principle applied (while any program is being created) is a desire to meet expectations and needs of students. The standard programs invariably include all base aspects of systemic teaching of Russian, i.e. language competency development: classes on Phonetics and Intonation, building and expanding of Vocabulary in Russian, Grammar (all levels), and speech skills development focused on fluency and accuracy in Russian.

Students are also offered special seminars and courses, which cover a broad spectrum of professional topics (Russian Language and Literature, Methods of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language, Translation) and those of the Humanities (Culture, Society, Political Situation in Russia, etc.). For example, during summer of 2008 there were conducted courses as «Verbal and Nominal Ways of Word-formation in Russian», «Aspects of the Russian Verb», «Russian Literature», «Russian Art», «History and Politics», «Russian Folklore», «Russian Music», «Analysis of Literary Text», etc.

Only highly qualified instructors are involved into educational process through the International Russian Language Courses. Lectures are delivered by the leading specialists in various fields of humanities.

In the end of the course students receive a Certificate of Lomonosov State University indicating the type and length of a course attended.

CULTURAL PROGRAM

A wide-spanning cultural program organized in May-August includes sightseeing tours around Moscow and its environs, visits to theaters and museums.
